Ok, Back in mid december, I posted a Windows XP lookalike Skin.
Someone made some comments that the start menu should be on the left, and that the progress bar window should be refined.
I have implemented these changes.
I also noticed that Hairzo has uploaded his Windows XP skin, which is great. There are several key differences between my Skin and His:
1) His skin is based on the default (blue) Windows XP theme. Mine is based on the "Silver" one, which I have alwayse preferred.
2) His has the brightness button and card-access indicator relocated to the lower right, to mimick the system tray application icons in Windows XP.. I chose to leave mine at the top in the directory path indicator bar.
3) My skin uses two separate copies (one for each screen) of the actual Windows XP background, which I actually borrowed from Windows XP and resized. His uses a slightly different image, and splits the background image between the two screens (eg, grassy plain visible in the bottom screen, and only blue sky visible in the top.)
4) My calendar and clock are oriented to the right half of the upper screen. His are more centered on the upper half of the upper screen. Also, My calender and clock use "translucent pane" backdrops similar to some of the custom windows themes/plugins available. His clock/calendar uses opaque backdrops, more reminescent of actual XP application windows.
5) All of my popup windows, use the "silver" bars at the top and buttons actually taken and resized from the silver themed windows XP. His popup windows and buttons are closer to the blue theme.
6) My main browser list uses text/highlighter bar colors of black and white for maximum contrast at any screen brightness setting. His uses a more "blue-theme" oriented color combination.
7) My progress bar window is now a bit more refined.
Both SKINs are nice, and the differences are purely a matter of preference.
I have to give Hairzo credit for comming up with the idea to increase the size definition for the start button, in order to make the terrible blocky looking START text (that the firmware insists on printing OVER the button) appear off the bottom of the screen. There is apparently no way to turn off this text, and I would never have thought of this solution on my own, which is why his START button looked so much better than mine initially.
Also, if Hairzo would like to take anything from my skin and use it to make his better, he is more than welcome to do so. The object here is to get the best possible skins available for this card. I think it's kinda kewl to be able to select between the Blue and Silver Windows XP themes.
So.. All of that said, here is the link:
